In the past we asked a question about the use of rebar anchorage vs counter sinking the base of a concrete median barrier wall, question 1689. I have one more question on this topic. Where the rebar anchorage is used, does it matter if the rebars or vertical or at an angle, see pictures below.
We don’t believe that angling of the bars slightly will adversely affect the anchorage of the barrier section. If the bars were designed to tie into existing barrier reinforcement it may make more of a difference, but in this case we see little effect as long as the similar length of rod is still developed in the barrier.
