We have a quick question regarding trailing end terminals. Our research has identified two MASH-tested terminals of this type, both of which share common features: two soil foundation tubes, a connecting strut, and a cable anchor system. The MwRSF MASH-tested end treatment (TRP-03-279-13) includes a rail element that extends the terminal 3'-7 3/4" beyond the last BCT post. We have been unable to determine the purpose of this extended rail segment and would appreciate any insights you could provide regarding the need for this additional length. Thank you!
The portion of rail that extends off the first post is superfluous. We have allowed the rail to stick off the end to keep the rail splice at the midspan between posts without any special rail sections at the trailing end. Alternatively, you can use a special length rail and terminate the rail at the first post. Either option is ok.
