We have received questions about having a 3” to 6” reveal on our single slope barrier (42” height). Assuming a minimum height of 42” overall and that the single slope stays the correct slope (10.8°), what is your opinion of the effect this would have on the performance of the barrier?
I don’t believe that this type of vertical section at the base of the barrier will cause any crashworthiness issues w/r/t the barrier. The vertical reveal will not promote additional climb or instability as compared to the standard single slope. Thus, if you maintain the barrier height and single slope geometry following with reveal, we would not expect an effect on performance.
