Description Text	This 4”x4” plate washer is on NDOT standard plan; I don’t have details of when/ where to use it. Is it a holdover from many years ago – not needed today? Should it be eliminated? What size washer should we be using on the back of wood posts?

Response (active)	We typically use plain round washers on the back side of our timber posts. The square washers don’t hurt anything, but I’m sure the round washers are cheaper and easier to obtain.
