ABSTRACT
The objective of the literature search described herein was to identify and display aesthetic-type barriers appropriate for use in scenic areas. The barriers identified in this review include parapets, guardrails, and bridge rails and were evaluated according to Test Level 1 (TL-1), Test Level 2 (TL-2), and Test Level 3 (TL-3) safety performance criteria set forth in the NCHRP Report No. 350, Recommended Procedures for the Safety Performance Evaluation of Highway Features.
