The transverse steel appears to be adequate. I am a little unclear about the longitudinal steel. There is a note that says #4 bars @ 3 equal spacings. Is that per side (front and back)? The drawing only show 2 bars in the upper right corner of the U-bar. Also, does the longitudinal steel extend the entire length of the concrete block – the note and rebar is only shown in Section B-B not in A-A.
Scott – I highlighted the longitudinal steel locations (see screenshot below). These would extend through the entire length of the concrete block and the #4 bars on the outside would tie into the longitudinal steel in the rectangular block behind the SCI (see other screenshot below). So the #4 bars run along both sides and through the top of the block with the #4 bars on the top of the wider block terminating at the back side of the rectangular concrete shape behind the SCI… Does that make sense?
Ok, got it. With the barrier width, anchorage, and reinforcement you have detailed, I believe your concrete block should be able to withstand TL-3 impacts and sustain little to no damage.
