MGS Long Span Blockouts

Description Text	Contractors are asking if they can use two 8 inch blocks in place of a 12 inch block placed on the CRT posts within the long span. Would this be acceptable?

Response (active)	In the metric-height W-beam long span guardrail, MwRSF incorporated the use of double, 8-in. deep wood blockouts with the three CRT posts adjacent to the long span. Thus it would seem reasonable that similar double 8” deep blockouts would be acceptable for use on the CRT posts in the MGS long span. Alternatively, you could use an 8” and a 4” block if you wanted to preserve the 12” depth of the tested system. Thanks
